How to care for your mattress

It’s spring! Reminding everyone it’s probably time to rotate your mattress. Here at New Living, we suggest rotating your latex or innerspring mattress once every 6 months. Host a mattress rotating party and have your friends help you turn your heavy mattress.

You are not required to flip the mattresses, just rotate them a 180 degrees. Most mattresses can be flipped if you choose, but check the model to see if it will be the same on both sides or a different mattress on the other side. For example, OrganicPedic by OMI’s Lago Nouveau, a medium-soft latex core, is actually the Lago, a medium latex core, on the other side. Check with a New Living rep if you have questions about what model is on the other side of your mattress.

In the spirit of spring cleaning, it may also be time to wash your dustmite barrier cover and mattress pad. For those of you without the natural resistance of latex and wool, we hear bean pods ward off bed bugs, thanks to the New York Times. “Put some Branch Basics on it!”, a non-toxic cleaning product we use on everything. Our customers have confirmed Branch Basics can be used as a preventive measure against nasty bed creatures as well.

Happy organic sleeping!! Please let us know if you have any questions.
